Julia A. Shinkareva is an award-winning journalist, photographer, and writer based in New York, NY. She was born in Moscow, Russia, and raised in Milan, Italy.

After many years of dedicated creative work around the world, she obtained a visa for individuals with extraordinary ability and achievement in the arts and settled in the United States to continue her professional journey. Initially pursuing a career in fashion and lifestyle journalism, Julia was hired by the British publication Culture Trip in London as a photo reporter and writer, where she completed her first international editorial assignments.

She has worked on projects in Japan, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and France before moving to the United States. Julia is the author of numerous articles in multiple languages for major international publications such as Elle, GQ, L’Officiel, and others. She writes in English, Italian, Russian, and Portuguese.

Julia’s work is characterized by a painterly softness and sensitivity to her subjects, highlighting detail and nuance. She became interested in lifestyle and street photography in her teens.

Julia is a member of the National Writers Union in the U.S. and the International Federation of Journalists in Paris, France. She earned her Master’s degree from IULM University in Milan in 2013. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S., Italy, and Portugal.
